After the Flopshow of iPhone3G from Trio(Vodafone-Apple-Airtel) another one has already lined up to face the similar consiquences - Idea partners Nokia for N96 said to be rival of iPhone3G which is supposed to be launched in September.

This time the flop show will not be due to pricing but because of the service provider which has the poor networks throughout india .

I think these phone manufacturers have gone mad about launching their phone with a particular service provider which inturn is affecting the sales in India market......hey guys this is not U.S Indian customer wants freedom to use any service provider and the mind set cannot be changed.
Nokia should learn a lesson from iPhone3G flop show that ultimately end customer is the one who gives you profits or makes you cry for it..... Best of luck for the launch.

Spokesperson of leading mobile communications should get it rite when he says - iPhone is a premium segment phone (In the US, it was one of the most hyped gadget in history. Within a week of its launch in June 2007, a phenomenal 5.25 lakh sets had been sold to eager buyers who had queued up at stores across the country for hours, even days)-TOI....oops you got it wrong Airtel...

If Apple Inc. thought of this price (Rs 31000 for 8GB-iPhone & Rs 36100 for 16GB) with its country partners - Vodafone & Airtel before launching it then they should have thought about it once more.

Two days after the launch neither of both the companies aren't happy about the launch as iPhones sales figures show it off.

I would like to ask the X guy who priced iPhone for India....that whole world knows iPhone 8GB Sells for Rs.8000(199$) two years contract but the X guy forgot that it sells for 499 $ (unlocked version) without any contract in U.S. If we go by the 499$ price still would have been under Rs.25000

Vodafone & Airtel must get their numbers correct before its too late to capture the market.

How can both of these major players in communication world got it worse by over pricing the phone still knowing the fact that indian customers know the price of the phone for which it sells in U.S

High price and lack of high-end 3G services seem to have dampened Apple’s iPhone launch party in India. Only a few buyers turned up at midnight launches done by both the operators across eight cities in India.

The snazzy gizmo failed to draw crowds to the stores of Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Essar in sharp contrast to the international markets where iPhone lovers had queued up the whole night to buy the handset.

The mood was subdued at the midnight launch of iPhone at Mumbai’s Infiniti Mall with Friday being a working day. The stage was set for a grand launch, complete with confetti and cheerleaders, but at the stroke of midnight, there were just 10 people who actually bought the high-end device.
