More than 50 percent of U.S. households now own a digital television (DTV), according to new research released today by the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA)®. As the nation transitions to digital television, consumers are adding DTV to their homes at a record pace.

“I am proud to announce our nation has hit this digital milestone. With 50 percent of U.S. homes able to experience the reality of digital television, we have crossed a critical threshold,” said Gary Shapiro, president and CEO of CEA. “2008 will continue to demonstrate the growth and success of DTV, with nearly 32 million units forecasted to ship. Consumers are particularly keen to add HDTV to their homes, with high definition expected to account for 79 percent of total DTV shipments in the U.S in 2008.”

According to new CEA sales projections, manufacturers will post 11 percent revenue growth, to over $25 billion, from sales of digital televisions in 2007. CEA also forecasts 13 percent revenue and 17 percent unit sales growth for digital television in 2008.

Samsung Electronics Co. said Thursday it filed a complaint with American authorities over alleged unfair trade practices by Japanese rival Sharp Corp., fueling an intensifying legal battle over flat panel technology.

Samsung said in a statement that it filed the complaint with the United States International Trade Commission on Dec. 21, claiming that Sharp and two U.S. subsidiaries imported and sold liquid crystal display products that infringe on four of Samsung's U.S. patents.

The complaint came after Sharp earlier this month sued Samsung in a South Korean court, also alleging patent violations for LCDs. It demanded damages and a halt to manufacturing and sales of affected TVs and display panels.

In August, Sharp filed a similar lawsuit against Samsung in federal court in the U.S. state of Texas. Samsung said Thursday it was pursuing federal lawsuits in Texas and Delaware against Sharp.

The string of lawsuits between the two companies — two of the world's biggest makers of LCD panels — highlight the bruising competition to develop better technology for products like hot-selling flat screen TVs.

Netscape, the Web browser once used in 80 percent of all Internet sessions, will be shut down by AOL after failing to regain market share from Microsoft Corp.'s Internet Explorer.

Netscape users should switch to Mozilla Foundation's Firefox browser, Netscape director Tom Drapeau wrote on his blog. America Online Inc. paid $9.8 billion in 1999 for Netscape, which by then had been crippled by Microsoft.

The decision ends AOL's almost nine-year effort to revive Netscape, the browser that helped popularize Internet use by making it easier for millions of consumers to log on. AOL bought Netscape to broaden its revenue sources as its dial-up Web- access service declined. New versions developed by AOL failed to dent Internet Explorer. AOL started offering e-mail and search services for free last year to boost advertising revenue.

Google Inc. yesterday said it would consider tweaking a new sharing feature of its Reader service, the only concession thus far to a users' revolt that's been building on blogs and message forums for nearly two weeks.

On Dec. 14, Google announced that Reader, its RSS (Really Simple Syndication) feed service, would link with contacts from Google Talk, the company's instant messenger, and Gmail, its Web-based e-mail service. Any feed tagged to "Share" in Reader would be visible to any Talk or Gmail contact.

The news brought immediate reaction from some. Danny Sullivan, search analyst and the editor-in-chief of SearchEngineLand.com, for example, said he liked the feature in general, but wasn't happy with how Google implemented it.

Sony is dropping its money-losing rear-projection TV business worldwide to focus on two flat panel technologies — liquid crystal display and organic light-emitting diode, the company said Thursday.

Sales of rear-projection TVs had been declining recently as LCD TVs gain in popularity and get bigger, Sony Corp. spokesman Shinji Obana said.

In October, Sony lowered its global sales forecast for rear-projection TVs — which uses a projector to create images on large screens — to 400,000 from 700,000, which is down from 1.1 million the previous fiscal year.

By contrast, Sony expects to sell 10 million LCD TVs this fiscal year through March, up from 6.3 million the previous year.

Sony sells 85 percent of its rear-projection TVs in the U.S., and about 10 percent in Europe, according to Obana. Production at the three plants that make the rear-projection TVs in Japan, Mexico and Malaysia, will be halted, Obana said.

Apple's stock rose to an intraday high of $200.96 a share before pulling back at the close to end the day at $198.95.

A spokeswoman for the Nasdaq said that it was the first time Apple's shares had been so high. She said they briefly touched $200 a share on Dec. 14.

The latest surged in Apple's shares has pushed the stock up 134% for the year and created an impression that, at least for the time being, the company is nearly invincible in the computer and consumer electronics markets.

In February 2005, Apple enacted a 2-for-1 stock split that put the company's shares at about $45 apiece. Since then, the stock has risen 347%.

Google has been hit by a setback in a patent row with Hyperphrase Technologies, LLC.

A federal appeals court in Wisconsin yesterday rejected part of a summary judgment that could have worked to Google's advantage in the case.

In June last year the search engine giant was slapped with a lawsuit in which Madison-based software firm Hyperphrase Technologies, LLC and Hyperphrase Inc claimed that Google had infringed four patents used to make AutoLink and AdSense.

The district court in Wisconsin later rejected the case and granted summary judgement in favour of Google.

But the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit said it, in fact, partially upheld the summary judgment, partially vacated it and remanded the case for further proceedings in the district court.

The full federal appeals court ruling can be viewed here.

Content creation by teenagers continues to grow, with 64% of online teenagers ages 12 to 17 engaging in at least one type of content creation, up from 57% of online teens in 2004.

Fueled by new technologies, websites, and social network domains such as Facebook and MySpace, large numbers of teens share and create materials online:

  • 39% of online teens share their own artistic creations online such as artwork, photos stories, or videos.
  • 33% of online teens create or work on webpages or blogs for others, including friends, groups they belong to or school assignments.
  • 28% of online teens have created their own blog, up from 19% in 2004, and almost completely driven by the popularity of blogging among girls.
  • 27% of online teens maintain their own webpage.
  • 26% of online teens remix content they find online into their own creations.

Girls continue to dominate most elements of content creation. Some 35% of all teen girls blog, compared with 20% of online boys, and 54% of wired girls post photos online compared with 40% of online boys. Boys, however, do dominate one area – posting of video content online – online teen boys are nearly twice as likely as online girls (19% vs. 10%) to have posted a video online somewhere where someone else could see it.

These findings are highlighted in a new report from the Pew Internet & American Life Project, "Teens and Social Media."

Technion researchers have succeeded in putting a full version of the Hebrew Bible, with vowel points, on 0.5 square millimeters – an area smaller than the size of a pinhead.

The nano-Bible was written as part of an educational program developed by the Russell Berrie Nanotechnology Institute. The program aims to increase interest, on the part of youth, in nanoscience and nanotechnology. The idea to write the entire Bible on an area smaller than a pinhead was conceived of by Prof. Uri Sivan, head of the Nanotechnology Institute. The project was managed by physics’ doctoral student Ohad Zohar, the institute’s scientific advisor for educational programs, together with Dr. Alex Lahav, former head of the FIB laboratory in the Wolfson Microelectronics Research and Teaching Center.

The nano-Bible was written using a scientific device called FIB – Focused Ion Beam. With the aid of this device, it was possible to send focused beams of tiny particles (gallium ions) towards a specific object. When the particles hit the object, they cause the atoms of that object to bounce off of it, thus etching it. This is similar to digging a small hole in the earth using a water jet from a hose.

The nano-Bible was written on a silicon surface covered with a thin layer of gold (20 nanometers thick). “When we send the particle beam toward a point on the surface, the gold atoms bounce off of this point, thus exposing the silicon layer underneath. The diameter of the exposed point is about 40 nanometers. When we look at the written example using a scanning electron microscope (SEM), the exposed silicon point looks darker than the gold surrounding it. By sending a particle beam towards various points on the substrate, we can etch any pattern of points, especially one that represents text,” explains Ohad Zohar.

Apple is developing an automatic volume control device for iPods amid growing fears that its users are at risk of hearing damage from listening to loud music, according to London-based Daily Mail on Monday.

The next iPods and iPhones could automatically calculate how long a person has been listening and at what volume, before gradually reducing the sound level, a new patent said.

"Since the damaging effect on users' hearing is both gradual and cumulative, even those users who are concerned about hearing loss may not behave in a manner that would limit or minimize such damaging effects," the patent stated.

The device will also calculate the amount of "quiet time" between when the iPod is turned off and when it is restarted, allowing the volume to be increased again to a safe level.

After its listing, Redington has seen quite a run this year. Operating in the IT sector the company, along with Ingram Micro, controls around 70% of the domestic IT distribution market, which includes selling package software, hardware and peripherals. And this market is slated to grow at a 20% rate and is expected to maintain this pace as India expands its IT infrastructure.

So for a low margin company (around 2.5% operating margins) volume growth creates the opportunity to impact its profitability. Redington is well placed to gain from these volume surges. It has an extensive distribution network in India and also in the Middle East and Africa. But it is the nature of its business, where the company buys out products from its vendors with cash and carries the inventory on its books and customers gain from the credit that makes it risky.

One of Apple's major marketing themes is that Macs are less susceptible to viruses, Trojans, and other hacker attacks than Windows PCs. While that argument has yet to hold much sway with enterprise I.T. departments, it is causing the U.S. Army to add some Macs to its networks.

Lt. Col. C.J. Wallington, a division chief in the Army's office of enterprise information systems, told Forbes that the Army is adding Macs to make its networks harder to hack. Wallington said that making networks more heterogeneous might make it more difficult for attackers to compromise an entire group of computers.

These things don't just happen overnight. The Army's CIO, Gen. Steve Boutelle, called for more diverse computer networks back in August 2005. He said the Army should deal with a broader range of vendors to increase competition and harden I.T. defenses. But thus far, the Army has allowed only a trickle of Macs to enter military facilities. The Army buys only about 1,000 Macs during its twice-a-year buying seasons.

The US Federal Investigation Bureau is hoarding mugshots, handprints and fingerprints to make the world's biggest database of physical characteristics for security identification, a spokesman said Saturday.

Richard Kolko confirmed a report by the Washington Post of the project, which if successfully completed would give the US government unprecedented ability to identify suspects around the world.

"We are consistently trying to update and improve the process and way to collect information," he told AFP, adding that there would be an emphasis on privacy rights, a controversial aspect of the United States' drive to gather data for security.

The report said the FBI plans to award a 10-year contract to significantly expand the amount and type of biometric information it receives, and was already storing millions of fingerprints in the database at a secure FBI complex in West Virginia.

An industry group says it has won a new round in a court battle with Yahoo's China arm, which is accused of helping online music pirates.

A Beijing appeals court on Thursday upheld a ruling against Yahoo China over its search engine's links to outside Web sites that carried illegally copied music, the International Federation of Phonographic Industries said.

Court officials would not confirm the report. A spokesman for Alibaba.com, the local partner that manages Yahoo's China arm, said he had not seen the ruling and could not comment on it. But the spokesman, Porter Erisman, said Yahoo China hoped to reach an agreement with music companies to create a licensed download service.

China is a leading source of pirated copies of music, movies and other goods. Operators of pirate Web sites offer music, games and other services to attract users and make money from advertising or online commerce.

Industry groups have won a series of lawsuits against companies accused of profiting from piracy but say violations are growing despite increased Chinese government enforcement.

Apple Computer is in talks with Japanese telecommunications services providers NTT DoCoMo and Softbank to crack Asia’s toughest but most lucrative mobile phone market.

Apple has decided now is the time to launch its popular iPhone in Asia; preparation has been under way through negotiations with telecoms companies in China and South Korea.

The latest news about its talks with NTT DoCoMo and Softbank, reported on The Wall Street Journal’s Web site Wednesday, should not have come as a surprise. The news was subsequently confirmed by several media outlets, as NTT DoCoMo spokesman Shuichiro Ichikoshi reportedly said his company’s President Masao Nakamura met recently with Apple Chief Executive Steve Jobs.

NTT DoCoMo, the industry leader with half of the market share, known for its aggressive introduction of high-end phones, appears to be the natural candidate to bring iPhones to Japan’s tech-savvy, trend-setting mobile phone users. By contrast, Softbank lags behind its two largest rivals, NTT DoCoMo and KDDI, in its lineup of advanced handset models, notwithstanding its recent push to accelerate the introduction of new phones following its acquisition of Vodafone’s operations in Japan last year.

Apple on Thursday put to rest the last of a series of lawsuits it brought in a losing and costly effort to put a stop to Web leaks about its product plans.

The suits raised questions about whether independent Web publishers should be accorded the same legal protections as traditional journalists. They were aimed at the gaggle of Apple enthusiasts who have made both a sport and a business out of pre-empting Steven P. Jobs’s big product announcements.

Nicholas M. Ciarelli, who operated a Web site for Apple rumors called Think Secret, was sued by Apple for publishing trade secrets in January 2005. In a brief statement Thursday on his site, Mr. Ciarelli said that he had reached a settlement with Apple and that he would stop publishing Think Secret.

Mr. Ciarelli, a senior at Harvard, would not comment on whether Apple had given him money to persuade him to cease publishing. But he said he was pleased with the outcome of the negotiations.

Microsoft has released to the public a near-final version of a major update to its Windows XP operating system.

As of Wednesday, the 'Release Candidate' for Windows XP Service Pack 3 was available as a 336 Mbyte download from Microsoft's Web site. The software had previously been available only to participants in Microsoft's official test programs.

Software vendors usually issue a release candidate when they're close to producing a final version of a product or update. It provides a last chance for users to weigh in before a final version is released to manufacturing.

Microsoft says it considers the Release Candidate for Windows XP SP3 to be trial software and warns users to download with caution -- and at their own risk. "Microsoft does not recommend installing this software on primary or mission critical systems," the company states on its Web site.

For the adventurous, however, Windows XP SP3 Release Candidate offers a number of enhancements over the current version of the OS. It includes all updates issued since Windows XP Service Pack 2 was released in 2004, and some new elements.

New Trojan software has been found picking the pockets of Google and its publishing partners, and potentially exposing Web surfers to more malware.

BitDefender, a software security company based in Bucharest, Romania, on Tuesday said that it had detected a new Trojan (Trojan.Qhost.WU) that replaces Google AdSense text ads with ads from a different, potentially malicious provider.

"This is a serious situation that damages users and Webmasters alike," said Attila-Mihaly Balazs, a BitDefender virus analyst, in a statement. "Users are affected because the advertisements and/or the linked sites may contain malicious code, which is a very likely situation, given that they are promoted using malware in the first place. Webmasters are affected because the Trojan takes away viewers and thus a possible money source from their Web sites."

Google said in an e-mailed statement that it is "committed to ensuring the safety and security of our users and our advertisers. We actively work to detect and remove sites that serve malware in both our ad network and in our search results. We have manual and automated processes in place to detect and enforce these policies. We have canceled customer accounts that display ads re-directing users to malicious sites or that advertise a product violating our software principles."

Microsoft plans to release the first beta of the next version of Internet Explorer in the first half of 2008, and said that IE 8 has passed a key Web standards test that ensures the browser won't "break" the Web.

IE8 has passed the "Acid2 Browser Test" from the Web Standards Project, which shows whether a browser renders a Web site in a certain way. If the browser renders the site correctly, it means the browser supports certain accepted Web standards.

Microsoft posted a video about the browser passing the test on its Channel 9 Web site.

Microsoft developed IE before some Web standards such as CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) and RSS (Really Simple Syndication) were developed, and so older versions don't support some current standards. Developers would write applications to work with IE rather than to support Web standards, since the browser was the de facto standard for surfing the Internet for so many years. Microsoft also was lax in updating IE to meet the demands of Web standards, since there was little competition in the browser market for years.

With the release and subsequent popularity of open-source browser Mozilla Firefox three years ago, a browser's need to stay current with Web standards once again moved to the forefront. When Microsoft developed IE7, released in October 2006, the company had good intentions and decided to improved support of Web standards with the new release.

However, Web sites that were created for older versions of IE didn't work properly on IE7. Microsoft hopes to remedy this problem so the situation is not repeated with IE8, according to an IE Blog posting attributed to Dean Hachamovitch, a Microsoft general manager on the IE team.

The Federal Trade Commission on Thursday approved Google's $3.1 billion purchase of advertising rival DoubleClick, saying the deal would not substantially lessen competition.

The deal, which combines Google's dominance in pay-per-click Internet advertising with DoubleClick's market-leading position in flashier display ads, is also being scrutinized by European antitrust officials.

In a 4-1 vote, the FTC decided to end its eight-month investigation of the transaction. Critics of the combination, first announced in April, had said it could give Google too much control over online advertising.

The commission's majority wrote in a statement: "After carefully reviewing the evidence, we have concluded that Google's proposed acquisition of DoubleClick is unlikely to substantially lessen competition."

The merger is part of a rapid consolidation within the Internet advertising industry.

A group of 30-40 students from the elite Indian Institute of Technology - Bombay (IIT-B) has designed a satellite that could be the first of its kind in the country to be launched into orbit.

The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) has shown "its willingness" to launch the 10 kg satellite into low Earth orbit (low orbit is 800 km-1000 km above the Earth's surface), IIT-B sources confirmed.

With ISRO supporting the project, the mood at the institute is upbeat. When approached in Bangalore, ISRO officials said they support student satellite projects as it encourages young blood to be a part of the space programme.

"We are already evaluating a micro-satellite project prepared by students of the Anna University in Chennai. Both satellites would be launched with ISRO's highly proven PSLV," an ISRO official said.

IIT-B students are expecting their satellite to be ready by the end of next year.

Head of IIT Bombay's Aerospace Engineering Department, K Sudhakar said, "Students are eager on taking up issues that affect the nation rather than broad global matters. This will not be another ISRO satellite with a very broad scope. This is going to look at more locally relevant issues."

Buoyed by the need for mobility, the Indian notebook PC (laptop) market grew almost 85 per cent to cross the 500,000 shipments mark in a single quarter, according to IDC’s India Quarterly PC Tracker.

During the third quarter of 2007, the overall Indian personal computer (notebooks and desktop combined) market grew 25.1 per cent year-on-year, in terms of unit shipments, to 1.8 million. For the same period last year, desktop PC shipments showed growth of 10.9 per cent.

During the quarter, notebook PC shipments to the home and small office segments grew by 166 per cent year-on-year, contributing almost 43 per cent to the total notebook shipments. The next-largest contributors to this trend were the enterprise and education segments.

The study further revealed that between January and September this year, a total of 4.81 million client PCs were sold. Of this, 3.6 million were desktops and 1.21 million laptops.

More than 260 groups are interested in bidding in the upcoming wireless spectrum auction, according to a list released Tuesday night by the Federal Communications Commission.

The list revealed a handful of anticipated players, ranging from the giant--AT&T, Cox Communications, Google and Verizon Wireless--to the not-so-giant: regional carriers Leap Wireless and MetroPCS and startup Frontier Wireless.

It also included surprise bidders that hadn't publicized their plans, such as fifth-ranked carrier Alltel , telecom R&D firm Qualcomm, Chevron and an Advance/Newhouse partnership perhaps related to Conde Nast.

Then there's Towerstream .

The tiny Middletown, R.I.-based fixed-wireless Internet provider announced earlier this month that it, too, had registered to bid in the Federal Communications Commission's auction in January, which will sell off five blocks of spectrum in the 700-megahertz band that was previously used for television broadcasts.

Towerstream's move surprised many industry watchers. But the company--which reported a third-quarter loss of $1.75 million on revenues of $1.76 million and has just embarked on a search for a new chief financial officer--"seems to be serious," says Scott Ellison, vice president of mobile and wireless communications at market research firm IDC.

Indeed, Towerstream Chief Executive Jeff Thompson takes pride in his company's scrappy nature. Founded in 2000, it regularly battles AT&T and Verizon, contending its WiMax wireless technology, which competes directly with cable and DSL, is cheaper than "in-the-ground" networks. Rather than install a physical line between buildings, Towerstream can connect corporate offices using antennae installed on building roofs. (The Empire State Building uses a Towerstream antenna, for instance.) The company also promises faster network installations with this snarky tagline: "Freedom from the Phone Company." Both Verizon and AT&T contend that wireless broadband Internet access is just one in a portfolio of connection options they offer to customers.

Towerstream found its way into the public markets last January via a reverse merger with a wholly owned subsidiary of a shell company called University Girls Calendar--a company that produced exactly what one might guess.

The E3 Media And Business Summit will return back to its old home in the Los Angeles Convention Center for 2008, the Entertainment Software Association said today.

Looks like all that complaining about this year's ridiculous series of suite meetings sprawled amidst the freeways of Santa Monica paid off, as the industry's biggest media event has moved back into one centralized location. The show will take place July 15-17.

The ESA is quick to point out that this does not signal the return of the grand spectacular trade show environment that once filled the entire LACC. "Press events and small meetings" are the order of the day. I assume they'll be taking over one of the convention center's many halls and divvying it up into suites, then maybe turning Kentia Hall into the new "hangar" where games are set to free play.

ESA head Mike Gallagher says that this year's show will also include "industry-shaping panel discussions," which should be interesting to see.

When comparing the first full month of sales of Apple Mac OS 10.5 "Leopard" (November 2007) to the first full month of sales for Mac OS 10.4 "Tiger" (May 2005), dollar volume for Leopard was up 32.8 percent and unit volume up 20.5 percent, NPD Group Inc said in a statement.

The new version of Apple's OS X software costs $129 for a single user and $199 for a "family pack" that can be installed on as many as five computers in a single household.

New features include a file back-up feature called "Time Machine," improvements to e-mail and instant messaging, and the ability to preview documents or files without starting up a separate program, as well as quick access to other computers on a home or an office network.

While the increases in dollar and unit volume can partially be attributed to going on sale during November -- a key month for consumer shopping -- and the growth in the number of Apple retail stores, NPD said the figures show that Apple has found the right formula for rolling out new versions of Mac operating systems.

A federal judge in Los Angeles has terminated an ongoing lawsuit against the operators of TorrentSpy.com in favor of all six of the MotionPicture Association of America’s (MPAA) member companies. The court imposed the harshest sanction against the TorrentSpy defendants because of their destruction of evidence and subversion of the judicial process. The ruling means that TorrentSpy operators are liable for copyright infringement.

In its decision, the court ruled that “although termination of a case is a harsh sanction appropriate only in extraordinary circumstance, the circumstances of this case are sufficiently extraordinary to merit such a sanction.” The court found that the evidence was “not deleted or modified negligently, but intentionally in direct response to the institution of this lawsuit.” Observing that defendants “already had been subjected to lesser sanctions in this case”, including a fine for $30,000 for violation of a court order, the court concluded that the “harsh sanction” of terminating the defendants’ case was the only appropriate remedy.

The evidence defendants destroyed included forum postings with references to copyright infringement and other incriminating statements; site directories referencing copyrighted works and subcategories clearly referring to pirated content; and user IP addresses.

The worldwide motion picture industry, including foreign and domestic producers, distributors, theaters, video stores and pay-per-view operators lose more than $18 billion annually as a result of movie theft. More than $7 billion in losses are attributed to illegal Internet distributions, while $11 billion is the result of illegal copying and bootlegging.

Facebook Inc., owner of the second- most popular Internet social-networking site, named a Canadian operator of pornographic sites as a defendant in a suit accusing it of trying to illegally obtain data about Facebook users.

The suit, originally filed in federal court in San Jose, California in June, was updated on Dec. 12, naming Slickcash.com and two Toronto men, Brian Fabian and Josh Raskin, as defendants.

Between June 1 and June 15 this year, the defendants sent 200,000 separate requests to Facebook, attempting to direct its computers to forward them information about Facebook users, the company said in the complaint.

These requests for information from Facebook generated error messages, and were detected as unauthorized attempts to access and harvest proprietary information belonging to Facebook,'' the company's lawyer, David Chiappetta, said in the complaint.

A new telephony startup came out of stealth yesterday, aiming to become "Silicon Valley's first phone company." Ribbit, unveiled a new platform for developing telephony services and a new business model for serving the new global telephony market. The company also unveiled some of the first applications from its partner and 600-plus developer community, including an integration with salesforce.com.

The Ribbit Platform: Liberating Voice from Its Current Confines

At the core of Ribbit's technology offering is a sophisticated, open platform that enables developers to bridge the worlds of traditional telephony and the Web. The Ribbit SmartSwitch™ - evolved from a Lucent-tested CLASS 5 softswitch - and open Flash/Flex-based API (application programming interface) enables non-telephony developers to quickly build innovative, rich voice applications and integrate them into web sites, communities and applications. By connecting voice from any Flash-enabled browser to the PSTN (public switched telephone network) and new VoIP (voice over IP) networks, over 750 million computers become the next generation of phones with developers deciding how they work. With an assortment of back-office and service delivery infrastructure, the platform also enables developers to not only build services, but sell them as well.

The Ribbit Business Model -- Serving the Long Tail of the New Telephony Market

In the first quarter of 2008, Ribbit will open its service to consumers featuring the first innovations from its developer community. Also in the first quarter, the company will sell commercial and enterprise packages to developers selling services that utilize the Ribbit platform. Both the consumer and the enterprise markets will be key areas of focus for Ribbit as it continues to engage the developer community. One market in particular -- small-to-medium size businesses -- holds special promise.

Ribbit headquarters are located in Mountain View, CA. Ribbit has received investment from Alsop-Louie Partners, Allegis Capital and KPG Ventures. For more information about Ribbit, please visit www.ribbit.com.
